Route Optimization Agent

This agent computes the most efficient travel route across multiple destinations using real-time distance data. It uses the Google Maps Distance Matrix API to build a time-based travel matrix and OR-Tools to solve the Vehicle Routing Problem (VRP). It accepts origin and destination data over HTTP from user interfaces or through Pub/Sub messages from other agents, and returns the optimal travel sequence.

Results are published to a Pub/Sub topic for downstream agents such as Fleet Manager or Decision Agent to consume. Because it works with actual travel durations and road networks, the agent addresses inefficient routes and high operational costs. It reduces delivery time and operational cost by minimizing total travel distance or duration, improves delivery speed, and reduces fuel usage. Its primary users are logistics companies and supply chain operations.
