Product Details
AlloyDB for PostgreSQL is a fully managed, PostgreSQL-compatible database service from Google Cloud. The AlloyDB connector lets Gemini agents analyze AlloyDB data. In federated query mode, which is in preview, queries run in place across the clusters, databases, and tables the user has IAM permission to access. A data ingestion mode copies a specific table into a Gemini data store instead.
The AlloyDB remote MCP server provides tools to list and create clusters and instances, run SQL queries, including read-only queries, create backups, restore clusters, manage IAM-based database users, and import or export data through Cloud Storage. Admins choose which actions to enable for the data store.
Key Use Cases
Federated Analytical Data Exploration
Data analysts execute ad-hoc, read-only SQL queries directly against IAM-secured AlloyDB PostgreSQL instances without exposing raw credentials.
Automated Database Operations & DR
Database administrators trigger cluster snapshots, manage IAM database users, and automate Cloud Storage data exports from Gemini.
