Cloud SQL is a fully managed relational database service from Google Cloud for PostgreSQL, MySQL, and SQL Server. The Cloud SQL connector lets Gemini agents analyze Cloud SQL data. In federated query mode, which is in preview, queries run in place across the instances, databases, and tables the user has IAM permission to access. A data ingestion mode copies a specific table into a Gemini data store instead.
The Cloud SQL remote MCP server provides tools to list, create, clone, and update instances, run SQL statements or read-only queries, manage database users, take and restore backups, import data, and check readiness for a PostgreSQL major version upgrade. Admins choose which actions to enable for the data store.
